The Children's Ballet Series offers a unique experience for our youngest audience members. Our live performances and storybook ballet events are the perfect way to introduce your child to the magic of dance!
LIVE PERFORMANCES: Charlottesville Ballet presents 45-minute, interactive performances that are specially designed for kids and families. Two-hour ballets that start at 8 PM are wonderful for adults...but not easy for young kids! We believe that parents should be able to give their children a more fun, more approachable, and more gratifying theater experience. All shows and events in our Children's Ballet Series are family-friendly, matinee performances. Our ticket pricing also reflects our mission to make ballet approachable by making an afternoon at the ballet affordable for all families. Tickets to Children's Ballet performances are $12 for adults and $10 for children and can be purchased right here on our website.
STORYBOOK BALLET EXPERIENCES: Charlottesville Ballet also offers a more hands-on event, where your child can take to the stage! Each "experience" is centered around a particular classical ballet and is designed for children ages 3 through 8. The afternoon begins with a short movement class on the stage, where participants can explore basic ballet steps and dance to music from famous composers. Next, young dancers join their parents in the audience to watch the professional dancers of Charlottesville Ballet perform excerpts from the selected ballet. After the show, our dancers help participants with a themed activity or craft, like making a Tea Party charm necklace or designing a Cinderella costume. Tickets to these storybook ballet events are priced around $35. Each class is capped at 40 participants, so space is limited. Don't miss these afternoons of learning, fun, and dance!

Children’s Ballet Series: ON TOUR!
A Fairy Tale Gathering in Lynchburg, VA
Charlottesville Ballet brings its wildly popular Children's Ballet Series to young audiences in Lynchburg! The company presents 45-minute, interactive performances that are specially designed for young kids and families.
In the original production called A Fairy Tale Gathering, fairytale princesses and other whimsical friends join the Fairy Godmother for an enchanting afternoon tea party. The show also features "Seven Dwarfs" played by young dance students from the Dance Theatre of Lynchburg.
Join us on Saturday, October 16th with three matinee performance times: 11am, 1pm, and 3:30pm. Tickets are $8 for children and $10 for adults.
Following each performance, children can attend an exclusive Fairy Tale Tea Party to meet the dancers, make tea time crafts, and take photos with their favorite fairy tale characters. All-inclusive children's tickets are $15 for both the ballet performance and the Tea Party following the show. Adult chaperones may attend the tea party at no extra charge.

Also join us for the “Class with Clara” Holiday Fundraising Event!
Your child can experience the magic of The Nutcracker by taking a ballet class on stage with Clara and her friends. Perfect for children ages 3 through 8, the event includes photo opportunities with the dancers plus a Nutcracker souvenir. “Class with Clara” is capped at 40 participants, so space is limited. Tickets are $40 per child and all proceeds go towards Children’s Ballet Series productions. Accompanying adults enjoy the event for free!

Charlottesville Ballet’s original children’s production is back by popular demand! A Fairy Tale Gathering brings together some of ballet's most famous stars for an enchanting afternoon tea party. Meet Cinderella as she dreams of the ball. Help the Prince wake up his Sleeping Beauty. Look for Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, and the Sugar Plum Fairy. The show also features "Seven Dwarfs" played by young dance students from the The Dance Barn. Don’t miss these characters and more in this interactive 45-minute performance.
Be there for the magic on Saturday, February 12th with two matinee performance times: 1:00pm and 3:30pm. Tickets are $10 for children, $12 adults and seniors.

Treat your little one to a very special Fairy Tale Tea Party after the show. Adults can enjoy tea party refreshments while children meet the dancers, make their own tea time crafts, and take photos with their favorite fairy tale characters. A Storybook Ballet Experience: Swan Lake
This Children’s Ballet event provides a more hands-on experience where your child can take to the stage! Participants will take an introductory ballet class, make a Swan Lake craft, and see segments of the classical ballet performed by Charlottesville Ballet dancers. Class size is capped at 40 participants, so space is limited. Tickets to the event are $35.
