D4D Committee

D4D Committee

This spring, we will launch the fifth annual Dancers for Dancers (D4D) fundraising initiative at CBA. We are creating another “D4D Committee” of key volunteers to assist with the coordination and execution of the 2023 D4D fundraiser. Our D4D committee of parents (assisted by their CBA children) will serve as advocates for the Ballet, help with administrative tasks, and make this important fundraising program possible. We would love for you to consider being part of the committee to make this year a success!

This year, our goal is to raise $17,000 for scholarships in less than a month! We are delighted to have a new D4D sponsor Doshier’s Donuts, who will be donating donuts at the CBA Spring Performance on June 2 & 3. Participants in the D4D fundraiser will receive a voucher for a free donut, and we need YOUR help to coordinate this celebration!

Volunteer Roles

Parent Advocates

Date: Throughout the D4D campaign | Time Commitment: 1-2 Hours

Do you have limited free time, a strong social media presence, or the gift of galvanizing? Join our committee as a Parent Advocate! We will be doing lots of fun D4D posts on social media, and will rely on volunteers in this role to share these posts online and rally excitement for the cause! If you’re interested, we’d also love to feature you and/or your CBA students in our D4D content (ex: a quote or video about the experience of fundraising, what D4D means to you, etc!)

Hall Of Fame Trailblazers

Date: Complete by June 2 | Time Commitment: 2-3 Hours

Are art & creativity your callings? Brand new this year, we are going to be creating 2 hall of fame posters (one in our upstairs lobby, and one downstairs) with pictures of our top 10 fundraisers. Our Hall Of Fame Trailblazers will collect the photos of these 10 students, and decorate a poster that showcases these accomplishments. These posters will stay in our lobbies until our next D4D fundraiser, so get ready to draw, paint, and bring the spirit of CBA to the 2023 display!

Donut Mascots

Date: Monday, April 24 – Thursday, May 4, 4:30-6:30PM at CBA | Time Commitment: 1-2 Hours

On select afternoons at CBA, we are looking for enthusiastic students to wear our donut mascot costume and rally the excitement for this special fundraiser! The donut costume is only available in a child’s size, but never fear! We will have signage for parents and siblings to hold alongside your donut-dressed dancer. This role will take place at both CBA locations during high-traffic drop-off/pick-up hours for academy classes. Bring your smiles and waves!

Prize Packagers

Dates: May 9 and 16, 9:00AM-11:0AM | Time Commitment: 1-2 Hours

There are multiple prize levels for students to earn during the D4D campaign. The prize packaging volunteers will organize and bag prizes that students earn, then take inventory of the leftovers.

Donut Distributors

Date: Friday, June 2 and Saturday, June 3 at the CBA Spring Performance | Time Commitment: 3 Hours

Doshiers Donuts has generously agreed to provide donuts at the CBA Spring Performance, and donate a donut to every dancer who participates in the D4D fundraiser. We will need helpers on the day of the show to help collect donut vouchers, pass out napkins and sanitizer, and thank these awesome dancers for their hard work and contribution to the cause.

About Dancers for Dancers (D4D)

Charlottesville Ballet is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to making dance accessible to everyone in our community. Each year, Charlottesville Ballet Academy ( CBA ) provides scholarships and financial aid to as many in-need students as possible. Each season, CB provides approximately $150,000 in scholarships and financial aid. In 2015, Charlottesville Ballet launched the Dancers For Dancers (D4D) initiative with the help of co-chairs Sally McDowell and Cherish Alberts. The goal: to expand CB’s scholarship and financial aid programs while raising awareness of access & philanthropy for the young dancers themselves. D4D fosters a community where students help raise the funds that will contribute towards their peers’ scholarships. D4D 2023 will be our 6th fundraiser, and our students have raised over $60K to date!
