The 10th Anniversary Production – A Decade of Dance

May 5

Join us for a special 10th Anniversary Production: A Decade of Dance. Charlottesville Ballet presents its most treasured works from the repertory alongside newly commissioned pieces that showcase the ballet’s vision for the future of dance.

The program will include highlights from the ballet Le Corsaire including the Grand Pas de Deux and the Odalisques Pas de Trois. Contemporary choreographers include Jason Ambrose, Rainey Jarrell,* Steven Melendez, and Peter LeBreton Merz. The performance will culminate in a grand finale by Keith Lee (former soloist with the American Ballet Theatre) featuring students from the ballet’s outreach program Chance To Dance and members of the larger Charlottesville dance community.

*Also check out Choreographer Interview with Rainey Jarrell — the woman behind Letter to My Love, the WWII theater ballet that chronicles the lives and struggles of the women left behind during the war. This ballet has been a part of the CB repertory since 2010 and has been re-staged on the company many times since. Charlottesville Ballet is delighted to include this pivotal work in its anniversary production A Decade of Dance.

And don’t miss the special Encore After-Party in the Founders Lounge after the performance to celebrate the Ballet’s ten years in Charlottesville! Enjoy wine (sponsored by Michael Shaps Wineworks), beer (sponsored by Champion Brewing Company), and food (sponsored by The Shebeen Pub and Braai), while you mingle with the professional artists of the Charlottesville Ballet. A limited number of tickets to the Encore After-Party are available as a $50.00 add-on to your ticket.
