COVID-19 Health & Safety

COVID-19 POLICIES & GUIDELINES

Health and safety is our top priority. In 2020, CBA assembled a COVID-19 Advisory Committee consisting of CBA parents, doctors, local public school leaders, architectural experts, etc. This committee advised CBA on best practices during the pandemic. We have consulted the committee regarding the policies outlined below, and have continued to update these policies.

Physical Distancing

CLASSES & PHYSICAL DISTANCING

  • Virtual class options available for individuals in quarantine & for parent observation
  • Faculty training on all new COVID-19 procedures
Masks required

MASKS

  • Face masks are optional for CBA students and guests entering the facility.
  • CBA will continue to follow the health and safety guidance from the CDC and the local health department. If transmission increases in Albemarle County, CBA staff will reassess and may return to requiring masks.

  • Please note: Students and families are not permitted to walk or wander past the CBA facility. The halls of the IX Art Park building are closed and should not be utilized by any CBA students or families.

*It is very important that parents/guardians pick up students in a timely manner. Students must be picked-up within 5 minutes after their last class. If you are running late, please call the office immediately.

Parent Observation:

Parents of First Steps Division classes and adaptive dance classes only are welcome to stay in the CBA lobby to observe during class if they prefer (preferably only one adult per student, plus a sibling if necessary). All other parents may either drop-off their child or may come in with their child and then return to their vehicle to limit capacity inside the lobbies.  All parents may use our Zoom links as our “virtual lobby” for observation.

If you choose to take advantage of our “virtual lobby,” please note that if you log on after the class start time, there may be a slight delay in admittance, since the teacher of the class will also be the host of the meeting.  Upon entering the Zoom room, please immediately change your listed name to your child’s full name, or at least first name & last initial.  This will increase security and help us ensure that only parents & family members are watching class each week.  The teachers have been instructed to remove anyone from the meeting who does not have an attending student’s name listed.  If you are unsure about how to rename yourself, please don’t hesitate to call or email us.  An administrative staff member will be happy to instruct you.
