CBA POLICIES

Health and safety is our top priority. Please review CBA’s arrival/dismissal policy, parent observation policy, and sick policy listed below.

Drop-off & Pick-up

ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL & PARENT OBSERVATION

Arrival/Dismissal at the CBA North Location:

  • All students should enter and exit in the FRONT of the building. Students are welcome to enter the front of the building upon arrival (approximately 5 minutes prior to class time) and proceed to the upstairs lobby.
  • All students ages 8 and below should be escorted by an adult into and out of the building at all times.
  • Ages 9 and up may be escorted in and out of the building by an adult or dropped off/picked up at the door at the parent’s discretion.
  • If you need to contact the CBA front desk at the north location, please call 434.973.2555.

Arrival/Dismissal at the CBA Downtown Location:

Weekday Daytimes:

  • Students are welcome to enter the front of the building upon arrival if the building door is unlocked (approximately 5 minutes prior to class time).
  • All students ages 8 and below should be escorted by an adult into and out of the building at all times.
  • Ages 9 and up may be escorted in and out of the building by an adult or dropped off/picked up at the door at the parent’s discretion.

Evenings & Saturdays:

  • The double glass doors to the building lock in the evening on weekdays and all day on Saturdays. Please line up for your class with a parent outside under the covered sidewalk in the front of the building and our staff will meet you outside to escort you in.
  • If you arrive late to class, please call the CBA downtown front desk at 434.227.7592 and our staff will escort you into the building.
  • Dismissal: Any parents waiting outside the building should wait outside at the double glass doors for your student to come out or for CBA staff to open the doors. If you need assistance, please call the CBA downtown front desk at 434.227.7592
  • Please note: Students and families are not permitted to walk or wander past the CBA facility. The halls of the IX Art Park building are closed and should not be utilized by any CBA students or families.

*It is very important that parents/guardians pick up students in a timely manner. Students must be picked-up within 5 minutes after their last class. If you are running late, please call the office immediately.

Parent Observation:

Parents of First Steps Division classes and adaptive dance classes only are welcome to stay in the CBA lobby to observe during class if they prefer (preferably only one adult per student, plus a sibling if necessary). All other parents may either drop-off their child or may come in with their child and then return to their vehicle to limit capacity inside the lobbies.

Parents with students in classes in 29North’s Studio 3 may use our Zoom links as our “virtual lobby” for observation.  If you choose to take advantage of our “virtual lobby,” please note that if you log on after the class start time, there may be a slight delay in admittance, since the teacher of the class will also be the host of the meeting.

Upon entering the Zoom room, please immediately change your listed name to your child’s full name, or at least first name & last initial.  This will increase security and help us ensure that only parents & family members are watching class each week.  The teachers have been instructed to remove anyone from the meeting who does not have an attending student’s name listed.  If you are unsure about how to rename yourself, please don’t hesitate to call or email us.  An administrative staff member will be happy to instruct you.

Sick Policy

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Attendance/Sick Policy

  • Regular, punctual attendance is important to a dancer’s progress!
  • Parents/Guardians must report all absences prior to class time. Parents may call the studio or email [email protected].
  • Students are welcome to make up any classes that are missed in another age-appropriate class of the same level during the same session at our CBA locations (during our 29North or Downtown at IX Art Park classes).
    • Make-ups may not be taken at the Carver Recreation Center location.
    • No refund or credit is given for missed classes.
    • Make-ups may be taken in the same genre as a student’s scheduled class, but students are also welcome to explore other genres.
    • Please contact the front desk or email [email protected] to schedule a make-up class.
  • If the student is injured and cannot actively participate in class, they should observe class. Much can be learned from observation and it is important that the student keeps up with their classmates.
