Dear Students and Families,

THANK YOU to all of you for staying with CBA and joining our faculty online to finish out this year in the most unexpected way. I am happy to inform you of our preliminary plans for our 2020 Spring Performance. Please keep in mind that this plan and the dates we have specified below are subject to change as it is all dependent on Virginia continuing to advance in our re-opening phases. If the Government implements any restrictions that prevent us from proceeding forward with this plan we will notify you as soon as possible.

Although we all wish we could be celebrating the accomplishments of our students in the theater, we are happy to announce an alternative way for our students to come together as a dance community and support one another. In order to abide by social distancing requirements, each individual class will meet for approximately 30-35 minutes at CB Studios over the course of one week to put on their costumes and perform their dance in Studio 3, while keeping appropriate distance between each dancer and staff members. Family members will be asked to remain in their vehicles during this time and a videographer will film the performance with no audience present. After filming all classes, we will put together a private video link that will be emailed to all families at no additional cost. Families are then encouraged to have their own watch parties at home and celebrate all of the progress your dancer and their fellow classmates have made this year.

As you know, our plan is to continue academic year classes through Tuesday, June 30, 2020. We will then have each class come to CB Studios for their class’s filming time slot during the week of July 6 – July 11. I know you will have a lot of questions about the process and what procedures Charlottesville Ballet staff is implementing to keep families and staff safe during this time. Please review the attached Spring Performance Information Packet for these details. This packet also has your child’s specific filming day(s) and times. Additionally, CBA Principal, Sara Clayborne will film a video from our CB Studios showing you our plans and describing what to expect. We will send this video to all of you prior to our first filming day.

Again, this is our preliminary plan and we will notify you if any changes need to be made.

Thank you again for your support! We look forward to seeing you all soon!
